Animal organization seeks donations to support Haiti relief

I received an e-mail today from Cecily West, executive director of the World Society for the Protection of Animals in the United States. The organization is asking for donations to support its relief efforts for animal victims in Haiti. WSPA, along with the International Fund for Animal Welfare, has developed the Animal Relief Coalition for Haiti to assist in emergency aid.

In her letter, West said the organization’s teams will be working out of a mobile clinic that was donated by the Antigua & Barbuda Humane Society. She wrote WSPA and IFAW have pledged funds to fully outfit the mobile clinic, and it will be shipped from Antigua to its member society, Sociedad Dominicana Para la Protección de Animales, in the Dominican Republic for them to drive across the border into Haiti.

Site provides animal protection resources

The World Society for the Protection of Animals recently launched a new Web site, www.AnimalWelfareOnline.org, that provides resources and information on animal protection issues around the world. According to WSPA’s October e-newsletter, the site “will serve as a central point to connect animal welfare groups across the globe, and [it] contains hundreds of resources on a variety of animal protection issues, news, events, jobs and volunteering opportunities.”
